Award Winners

2010 Winner
Atlanta Chapter

ASP's Atlanta chapter was formed in 2007, had 25 members by 2008, and doubled its membership in 2009. In 2009, the Atlanta chapter's breakfast meeting attendance varied from 37 to 97 for a special event. Some of the chapter's outstanding activities include:

  • Acquisition of a corporate sponsor (Delta Community Credit Union) to host meetings
  • Growth of chapter membership and operating capital
  • Engagement of speakers from major Atlanta organizations
  • Active marketing through telemarketing, social media, online listings, and cross promotion with other organizations
  • Measurement of attendee and member satisfaction through surveys
  • Member participation in ASP's Conference, Certification, and Technology committees

Congratulations to ASP's outstanding Atlanta chapter!

2009 Winner
Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter

Since its start, the Dallas Fort Worth Chapter has:

  • Built meeting attendance to 25 to 40 people at each meeting

  • Continued to have outstanding speakers from companies, academia and consulting. This academic year alone DFW had speakers from Booz & Co., Perot Systems, Fluor and JC Penney. The topics have ranged from millenials to green strategy.

  • Conceived and implemented a strategy for growth and sustainability. DFW used the lens of branding to conceive the strategy.

Some specifics on the chapter strategy:

  • Emphasized that the DFW chapter is "the foremost learning organization for enterprise strategy and creation in the North Texas area. Used the structure of dinner meetings. The meetings start with informal time with wine or cocktails. The speaker speaks before dinner. At the end of the speech, the speaker suggests one or two questions for the tables to discuss during dinner. They purposely use tables of four, NOT tables of eight or ten, so that discussions are easier.

  • DFW has a slide show loop going before dinner displaying names of new members, next speakers, sponsors, and information on the national meeting.

  • DFW routinely advertises its meetings through meeting notices in the local media. Some of those items are picked up and used on different organizations' websites.

2008 Winner
Minnesota Chapter

The Minnesota Chapter has been a model for transitioning to ASP chapter status. The Chapter fully integrated with ASP, shifting brand and administrative services to ASP. This shift included a new name and logo, new checking account and new reservation system. After many years of managing its own website, the chapter successfully worked with Executive Director to transition members and redirected traffic from its old website to strategyplus.org. This transition went relatively smoothly. During this transition, the Chapter continued to aggressively promote the ASP brand. The Chapter also secured three new board members, and built a healthy financial status.

Congratulations to the Minnesota Chapter on a job well done.
