The ASP Distinguished Service Award recognizes an ASP member who has
demonstrated dedicated service and an untiring commitment to furthering the
development of the organization and its members through donated time,
influential leadership and sustained service to ASP. Nominees for this award
must be members in good standing of ASP for a minimum of 5 years.
Award Winners
2008 Winner Dr. David Crain
Dr Crain was a Co-founder of ASP and the Association's first President
from 1999 - 2004. David's superior and sustained leadership set the
Association on the path to success, as he led development of the
organization's strategy and worked with board members to increase the
visibility and market positioning. Dr. Crain was instrumental in the
creation of ASPs Corporate Membership and benefits associated with this
area of membership.
Dr. Crain has served for many years as a professor of strategic
planning, teaching at several Southern California business schools. He
has also worked in strategic planning with numerous publicly-held and
private companies, both internally and as a consultant.
2007 Winner Dr. Stanley C. Abraham
Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Cal Poly Pomona, and president of
Future by Design. Dr. Abraham was a founding member of ASP in 1999, and served
as its President. He organized the first ASP national conference, and has led
many key activities in developing ASP into a successful organization.
Award Judging
Nomination: Any member in good standing can nominate a candidate for recognition of distinguished service to ASP. Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria: Years as a member, Chapter Service, National Service, as well as Special Assignments. A summary of the nominee's accomplishments must accompany this nomination.
Selection: The ASP President will designate a committee of no fewer than three members to recommend a recipient of the award to the Board.
Presentation: The Distinguished Service Award will be presented at the ASP Annual Conference or Annual Members Meeting, at the discretion of the Board.
