commitment to - and involvement in - ASP during the previous program year.

2011 Winner Don Ricketts LBL Strategies, Denver Chapter
2010 Winner Pamela Johnson Director of Planning, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare
Pam Johnson was recognized as Member of the Year at ASP's 2010 annual conference
for her leadership of two consecutive conferences, during a time of severe
economic stress for the nation and for the strategic planning community. Her
outstanding leadership made these conferences extremely successful venues for
professional networking, communications and growth. The degree of commitment to
ASP that she has exhibited is exceptional. Pam led complex teams that managed
programming, logistics, finance, marketing and numerous other details that
culminated in memorable and, in some senses, historic conferences. Her personal
involvement, dedication and professionalism during this past year have been
outstanding and merit this recognition.
2009 Winner Alan Leeds
Alan has been ASP's most dynamic member this past year. He has served on the national Board of
Directors, taking on numerous roles and special projects, while at the same time he has been a
consistent bulwark for the Northern California Chapter. As a long-time ASP Board member, Alan has
worked tirelessly to help the Executive Director develop a program to meet the needs of current and
prospective Corporate Members. He has been active in planning the future of the Association,
applying modern strategic planning principles to ASP's decision making processes. He has supported
research projects with partner organizations. Finally, Alan stepped up to help create a social
network-based means to facilitate ASP's Communities of Practice. In addition, as a member of the
Northern California chapter, Alan has consistently provided professional perspectives to helping the
chapter grow into one of ASP's most dynamic and successful organizations. He is currently the
chapter's co-program chair, finding and ensuring that speakers, topics and presentations fit the
chapter's membership needs. Alan's continuing support has helped strengthen ASP for many years. In
the past year, his initiatives to develop programs for Corporate Members has helped the Association
attract several new members and more fully satisfy our current members. His support for Communities
of Practice will create a new mechanism to better serve the needs of our individual members. His
active participation on the ASP Board has helped sustain effective decision making and creativity
during an especially dynamic period for the Association. Finally, Alan's support this year for the
Northern California chapter has helped sustain effective programs and strategies, he has been
instrumental in increasing attendance at chapter events.
2008 Winner David Goldstein
During the 2007-2008 program year, Mr. Goldstein made major contributions to ASP in many areas. As
Chair of the National Systems Committee, he oversaw the development and implementation of new
back-office software systems that were needed to support ASPs operation as a national organization.
The implementation of the new back office system links all Association operations, from membership
management to meeting registration. As Treasurer of the Dallas Area (now Dallas/Ft Worth) Chapter,
he led the creation and development of one of the Associations most dynamic elements. The Dallas/Ft
Worth Chapter has become a nucleus for local area executives, managers, and consultants to
interchange best strategic planning practices. In addition these demanding roles, David served as
Director of Operations for the ASP 2008 Conference, Mr. Goldstein was instrumental in ensuring the
success of this critical ASP event, and conference attendees benefited from his tenacity, ingenuity
and attention to detail.
In all the areas that Mr. Goldstein contributed to ASP this year, he made monumental contributions.

Award Judging
Nomination: Any ASP member may nominate an ASP member in good standing.
Selection: All current ASP Board members and chapter presidents vote; winner must receive at least 51% of all votes.
