Award Winners
2010 Winners
Stacey McCarthy Managing Partner, Skyline Group
Richard Condit SVP & CAO, Sundt Corporation
2009 Winner Timi Gleason
An early member of ASP and the San Diego Chapter, Timi has been deeply involved in the chapter's
overall development, in particular in guiding the growth of its programs and their content. The
chapter enjoys a good reputation for its programs and their format thanks in a large part to Timi's
focus on vetting and delivering good and relevant speakers, guiding and supporting the mini-workshop
format and supporting and coaching new board members. She has volunteered for tasks at Annual
Conferences and attended many of them. Establishing a good programming process truly supports the
strategic planning practitioner and helps recruit valuable members to ASP and the local chapter
board.
2009 Winner Steve Haines
This award is based upon the leadership Steve has provided this year to the ASP Board's project
to establish a strategic planning certification process. He has willed this project forward in all
its aspects, and without his leadership there is little doubt that this process would have made it
as faras it has. The identification of a set of standards and a certification process have the
potential to establish ASP as the premier association in this area and in turn establish this area
of practice into a well established profession.
2009 Winner Dr. Joyce Reynolds-Sinclair
To qualify for this award, Joyce led the Council of Chapter Representatives, aka Chapter Council,
which facilitates chapter interaction with the ASP Board. Under Joyce's co-leadership this year, the
Chapter Council accomplished more than ever, and was extremely well organized. Joyce structured
every meeting and interchange so as to get maximum effectiveness. She represented the results to the
ASP Board, and provided direct feedback from the Board to the Chapter Council members. Without
Joyce's leadership, the Chapter Council would not have been as effective in cementing ASP together
as a single, unified organization. Her persistent, professional dedication to excellence made the
Chapter Council an effective vehicle for ASP success.
2008 Winner Dr. Bill Bigler
Bill Bigler made major contributions to the Association as Co-Founder and President of
the Dallas Area (now D/FW) Chapter. Dr. Bigler's leadership was instrumental in the
creation of a dynamic, successful chapter in the Dallas- Ft Worth Metroplex, which
serves as the ASP anchor organization in the southern part of the country. The chapters
successful programs have set an outstanding example for other emerging chapters.
Dr. Bigler served as Chair of the Goodman Award Selection Committee from 2006 to
2008 and his leadership was the major factor in establishing this award as the premier for
outstanding organizational strategic planning.
In addition, Dr. Bigler introduced the idea of an ASP Research Institute and worked to
develop this concept.
2008 Winner Diana Waters
Diana Waters served on the ASP Board for three years and was a central figure in the
membership development activities. As the Director responsible for Membership, she
worked tirelessly with the Executive Director to recruit new members to ASP and to sow
the seeds for new chapters. She worked with ASP organizers in several cities around the
country, guiding them each through the process of organizing a formal group, planning
future programs, and applying for a provisional chapter status. Frequently, she developed
lists of potential new members for these chapters. In an effort to strengthen the value of
an ASP membership, she developed several new benefits for ASP members that are now
available on our website, and worked in tandem with our Executive Director to develop
others.
Although the growth and success of ASP has been the result of a team effort by many
hard-working people, Ms. Water's leadership in membership development was a
significant contribution worthy of this award.
2008 Winner Jim Wilson
Jim Wilson served as Chairman or Co-Chair of the ASP Annual Conference from 2003 to
2007. Over these years, the conference evolved from a relatively small, local gathering to
a major international event. Through Mr. Wilson's contributions, the Annual Conference
is now a major forum for professional information exchange regarding strategic planning.
The quality and consistency of the Annual Conference under Mr. Wilson's sustained
leadership set the stage for all future conferences and created a standard of excellence for
all to follow. Mr. Wilson further contributed to the overall success of ASP by serving on
the Board from 2003-2005.
