About the Scholarship
The ASP Conference scholarship is named for Sumner Alpert, co-founder and
long-time Secretary of the Association, who passed away in June 2004. The
scholarship recognizes his life long commitment to learning and continuing
education.
The scholarship pays a full-time student's registration fee to the ASP Annual
Conference. The number of scholarships awarded in any given year is dependent
upon available funding. The scholarship is funded through donations by members
and friends of the Association.
Scholarship Winners
2008 Winner Vishal Agrawal
Vishal is currently studying at the Graziadio School of Business and
Management, Pepperdine University. While working with a career counselor at

banking and manufacturing in India before coming to the US to study for his
MBA. At Pepperdine, he is a member of that school's recently formed

Following his attendance at the annual conference, Vishal commented
"Strategic planning is an important driving force in today's dynamic
business environment and in the future. In this age of information and
globalization, knowledge of strategic planning will be an important asset
for my future aspirations and I believe that the Association for Strategic
