Regardless of the organization, there is some type of live, regularly scheduled
internal status updates. These meetings go by different names, sometimes called
operational excellence meetings or performance updates, and depending on the type
their frequency varies from weekly to quarterly. These meetings range from discussing
what's occurring in the organization, to identifying issues or identifying priorities.
The challenges with these meetings are multiple. Part of the difficulty is
the preparation for these meetings can often take hours or even days worth of
work to assemble information that will be presented. Despite the time spent,
once the meeting rolls around, more time is spent arguing about the validity
of the information than the actual information itself. Also challenging is that
often times these meetings are disconnected from the objectives of an organization
and thus the execution of an organization is often out of sync or in conflict
with its strategy.
By bringing structure to these meetings, it can reduce the amount of time spent preparing for
these meetings. In addition instead of spending cycles on the validity of information, time can be
spent on proactively identifying and resolving the issues that the group faces. Lastly, by
incorporating objectives into the operational process, strategy can become part of the DNA of an
organization.
In this seminar learn how you can:
- Commandeer the operational review process
- Track strategy formally through qualitative KPIs
- Make strategy part of your regular meetings
