Session Abstract

Enterprise Architecture is the answer to the strategy execution dilemma. Contrary to what
some believe, Enterprise Architecture is not about technology. It is, however, all about:
- aligning operational plans with the mission, goals and strategies of the organization;
- developing and maintaining an actionable blueprint that guides an organization from its dynamic "today" to its vision; and
- presenting a day-to-day decision-making framework that is relevant at all levels of an organization.
In its purest form, an Enterprise Architecture is a holistic view of an organization. Enterprise
Architecture is distinguished from other forms of architecture in that it integrates all aspects of
an organization .. strategy, business operations, data and the technology that enables it all. An
Enterprise Architecture makes "the plan" plain and visually real for all players in an
organization .. a critical prerequisite to effective strategy execution. Enterprise
Architecture is a picture of an organization's "today", "tomorrow" and
"roadmap" to transformation.
This presentation will introduce an application of Enterprise Architecture that leverages the
development, maintenance and use of the Enterprise Architecture to effectively execute an
organization's strategic plan. Attendees will leave with a sound understanding and actionable
take-aways related to:
- how Enterprise Architecture can be used in strategic planning;
- how to establish the foundation for an effective Enterprise Architecture;
- how an Enterprise Architecture helps to align operational plans with business strategy; and
- how to leverage Enterprise Architecture to effectively execute plans to meet the organization's vision.
