Biography
Prior to joining the company in 2004 he served as President and CEO of Array
Automation LLC, an affiliate of Affymetrix and joint venture with Beckman
Coulter. While at Beckman Coulter he held several key executive positions
through 2002. His last position was Director, Corporate Strategic Technology
Investments and Director, Advanced Technology Program Management. He was
responsible for Corporate Wide Technology Planning for Beckman Coulter. In this
role he focused on substantially integrating and expanding Beckman Coulter's
technology portfolio value and accelerating corporate growth. Beginning in 1994
he was appointed Director of Corporate Strategic Planning responsible for
development of the Corporate Strategic Plan, which included a series of
strategic acquisitions which doubled revenues to $2 billion. In 1998, his
responsibilities were expanded to include Directorship of Program Management for
the Beckman Coulter Advanced Technology Center. In this role he was responsible
for managing the early phase development of new technology programs for the
corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Genetics
from the University of Arizona. He served as the Co-chair of the Board of
Directors and President of the Life Science Industry Council and is now Board
Member Emeritus. He served as Co-chair of AdvaMed's (HIMA) Orange County
Innovation Council, member of UCLA Biomedical Engineering and USC Regulatory
Programs Advisory Boards.
