Biography
Jay Kurtz is President of KappaWest, Inc., a California-based management consulting firm.
For more than 25 years, he and his company have used military concepts and principles to
help clients to increase their strategic effectiveness and operational efficiency. Much of his
work has been focused on companies that are entering or already involved in highly
competitive markets.
Jay is a graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada and served nine years as an officer
in the Canadian Army before joining IBM. At IBM he served in several sales and marketing
roles before assuming responsibility for IBM's Scientific Datacentre organization. Later, he
was a co-founder and the original Vice President Marketing of a computer services company
specializing in scientific and engineering applications.
At KappaWest, he leads the company's business development efforts and is a frequent
speaker and writer on the subjects of business intelligence, sales development, business
wargaming, strategic and operational level planning, contingency planning and related
concepts. He has conducted seminars and workshops on these subjects throughout North
and South America and in Europe, Africa and Asia/Pacific.
His company's clients include leading companies in the defense/aerospace, pharmaceutical,
biotech, information technology and telecommunications industries. KappaWest has also
assisted several large professional services firms to increase their business development
effectiveness.
