Description
The Association for Strategic Planning is a non-profit professional
organization dedicated to enabling people and organizations to succeed
through improved strategic thinking, planning and action. The association,
founded in 1999, provides opportunities to explore cutting-edge strategy
principles and practices that drive success in the business, government, and
non-profit sectors.

Companies Represented
ASP's membership includes executives from companies including: the Boeing
Corporation, IBM Business Consulting, Countrywide Financial Corporation,
Toyota, PeopleSoft, San Diego Zoo, Sun Microsystems, Weyerhauser, Ask
Jeeves, Hewlett-Packard, Walt Disney Company and Stanford University.
National Conference
ASP organizes the ASP Annual Strategic Planning Conference, which is a
one-day conference featuring practical workshops, noted guest speakers and
seminars on the practice of strategic planning. The event is held every
year in February.
Strategic Planning Award
Every year, ASP presents the Richard Goodman Strategic Planning Award to
recognize one or more organizations that have demonstrated excellence in the
practice of strategic planning. The winners are announced at the ASP annual
conference. Previous winners include Q Logic Corporation and the Federal
Aviation Administration.
History
ASP traces its history back to the early 1950s to an organization
called The National Society for Business Budgeting. During the
following four decades, several organizations merged eventually forming
The Planning Forum, which became the Strategic Leadership Forum before
evolving into ASP.
Membership
Current annual fees: individual, $195; corporate, $5,000; student, $90.
Chapter Events
Chapters hold monthly events, which usually feature a prominent speaker
or other professional activity.
